Mario Balotelli claimed he has always had Milan “in his heart” as he trained back with his former club.
The Italy striker underwent a medical this morning before agreeing a season-long loan deal back to Serie A from Liverpool. Balotelli, 25, had joined the Anfield club from Milan in a £16m transfer last summer.
The Italian club have now agreed a £1.6m loan deal with Liverpool paying half the wages and no agreement to make the move permanent.
Balotelli, who will again wear the No 45 shirt, was greeted by two hundred fans at the Milanello training ground.
“I am happy to be back,” he said. “I just want to train and show what I can do. Physically I am quite good. I just have to work.
“I always thought I could return – because I have always had Milan in my heart and I always hoped to return.
“Do I want to finish my career here? I have to start to work from now and have a good year and then we will see.”
