Item? Ozil and Gulse
Is Mesut Ozil dating Miss Turkey?
The Arsenal star has been snapped with glamour girl Amine Gulse,
sparking unsubstantiated claims they may be romantically linked.
Ozil has Turkish heritage, indeed he is the son of migrants from the country, who moved to Germany prior to his birth.
In the news: Ozil has made headlines in Turkey about his relationship with Gulse
While the reports in Turkish tabloids have sent the rumour mill into
overdrive, Gulse and Ozil are said to be long-time friends and the
former beauty pageant queen's people have denied the pair are in a
relationship.
The World Cup winner was in action last night as the Gunners drew 0-0 with Liverpool at the Emirates.
Amine Gulse Instagram
Arsenal failed to find the net for the second home game in a row, following their 2-0 defeat to West Ham on the opening day.
Before the match, Gary Neville slammed the German's contribution to the side.
Amine Gulse Instagram
"I don't think I've ever seen Mesut Ozil take responsibility for the
rest of his team. I've seen him have good games, where he passes the
ball well, gets involved and gets assists but doesn't get enough goals,"
he said.
If you've been keeping even half an eye on the all-consuming behemoth
that is the summer transfer window, you'll know that there's a hot new
rumour doing the rounds.
It involves Manchester United and Neymar, whose international agent, Pini Zahavi, was spotted at Old Trafford at the weekend. It supposedly involves a bid of €190million, the value of the striker's buyout clause at Barcelona.
Mainly, though, it involves the kind of suspension of belief that would put the world's most ardent Scientologists to shame.
Not because it is hard to imagine United harbouring ambitions of signing Neymar –
heaven knows Ed Woodward is a dreamer – but because it is difficult to
see why on earth Neymar would harbour ambitions of playing for
Manchester United.
Neymar won the Champions League last season
Let's compare and contrast.
The Brazilian plays for a
team who secured a historic treble last season and must be considered
the best side in the world. Manchester United are not even the best team
in their city.
He lines up alongside Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi,
for whom his admiration has been obvious dating back to his time at
Santos. At Manchester United, he would play alongside Wayne Rooney, a
man who forgot how to play football three years ago and whose potential
educational value – aside from as a cautionary tale about the perils of
burnout – is probably minimal.
Neymar has clicked with Messi and Suarez
Then there are the coaches: would this most enigmatic, instinctive of
players willingly trade the freedom afforded to him by Luis Enrique for
a taste of Louis van Gaal's pass-pass-turn-around-pass-rinse-repeat
human jigsaw puzzle?
It is not as if Neymar's progress has been
anything less than stellar at Barcelona, either. Since arriving in
Catalonia, he has made a mockery of those who had him down as a flighty
YouTube trickster. His goal record last season – 39 in 51 games – speaks
of a player growing in stature, while all evidence points to his being
settled in Spain. His former girlfriend and his son, Davi Lucca, are
considering moving to Barcelona to be closer to him.
Why would he possibly forego all of that?
Neymar has repeatedly stressed his admiration for Messi
Really, there are only two possible reasons he would even
consider it. The first is money: Neymar's dad/agent/puppet master has
already proven himself to be a wheeler-dealer of the most depressing
sort and it would be little surprise if he pressed for a move it was
financially beneficial.
But then... come on. According to Forbes,
Neymar earns over $30million a year between wages and sponsorship
deals, a figure that will only rise as his career goes on. Surely even
Neymar Sr's nefarious influence could not convince the forward to
sacrifice so much for an extra few million pounds over the length of a
contract.
The second thing is prestige: the certainty that he
would be the main attraction rather than a member of the supporting
cast. Perhaps he fancies stepping out of Messi's shadow.
MarioBalotelli claimed he has always had Milan “in his heart” as he trained back with his former club.
The Italy striker underwent a medical this morning before agreeing a season-long loan deal back to Serie A from Liverpool. Balotelli, 25, had joined the Anfield club from Milan in a £16m transfer last summer.
The Italian club have now agreed a £1.6m loan deal with
Liverpool paying half the wages and no agreement to make the move
permanent.
Balotelli, who will again wear the No 45 shirt, was greeted by two hundred fans at the Milanello training ground.
“I am happy to be back,” he said. “I just want to train and show what I can do. Physically I am quite good. I just have to work.
“I always thought I could return – because I have always had Milan in my heart and I always hoped to return.
“Do I want to finish my career here? I have to start to work from now and have a good year and then we will see.”
Aaron Ramsey says he becomes a more tenacious and competitive person when he is playing football.
The Wales midfielder is quiet and easy-going off the pitch, but that
all changes when he crosses the white line to represent Arsenal.
“It’s pretty much like flicking a switch in my head,” Ramsey told
Arsenal Player. “I give everything when I’m on the pitch or on the
training pitch. When I’m at the training ground and working in the gym
or whatever, I always give everything that I’ve got.
In this team I feel comfortable enough to feel as though I can play
my best football. I’m really happy on the pitch at the moment Aaron Ramsey
“As soon as you feel as though you have a responsibility in the team,
you’re confident, you want to be out there expressing yourself and I’m
in that place. In this team I feel comfortable enough to feel as though I
can play my best football. I’m really happy on the pitch at the moment.
Ramsey has suffered setbacks in his career and insists the best way
to bounce back from a frustrating defeat is to focus on other things
away from football.
“You’re disappointed with the result but there’s nothing you can do
with that now so it’s important to put that to the back of your mind,
learn from what went wrong there and focus on the next game,” he said.
“You have to prove what you can do and that you can get back to winning
ways.
“I’m not one of those people who goes home and has to put football on
the TV straight away or has to watch Sky Sports News. It’s important to
take your mind off football otherwise you become too obsessed and you
look into things too much.
“You could have problems when you do that, when you then go onto the
pitch and play, so it’s important to take your mind off it. When you’re
there and playing it’s important to focus 100 per cent on what you’re
doing.
“I play golf to take my mind off [football]. I have a family who are
very important in my life as well and they help me to take my mind away
from it. When you are playing football you have to give everything and
focus 100 per cent on trying to do your best but it’s important to have
the right balance.” Aaron Ramsey in action against Crystal Palace
Spanish newspaper Sport claims Arsene Wenger has list of
players who he wants to replace the Gunners' current defensive
midfielder Francis Coquelin - who cemented a place in the starting 11 at
the Emirates with a string of impressive displays after the turn of the
New Year.
And according to the publication, Busquets is at the top of that list.
If Wenger does make a move for Busquets, who was once a target for Manchester United,
he will almost certainly have to splash the cash as the Spanish
international has four-years left on his current contract with the
Catalan club.
However, the Frenchman has hinted he is willing to splash the cash if the right player becomes available.
"If I find an exceptional player to strengthen, I will do it. It depends what’s on the market.
"It’s
not easy, there are a lot of teams out there in Europe competing for
the same player. We don’t rule it out and don’t guarantee we sign."
John Terry has vowed to remain at Chelsea for at least another two years
The 34-year-old Chelsea captain wants to end his career as a one-club man
Petr Cech joined Arsenal and Frank Lampard left for Manchester City
Terry has promised he would not join another Premier League club
John Terry
has revealed he aims to play for Chelsea for at least two more years and
insisted he will not follow the example of Petr Cech and Frank Lampard
by playing for another Barclays Premier League club.
The
captain, 34, who has been with Chelsea since he was a schoolboy, will
remain a one-club man in England at least — though he hopes he will be
able to finish his career at Stamford Bridge.
Terry
said: 'If I felt Chelsea were going to release me or thought I had
nothing else to give but I thought I could, then of course I would still
want to continue to play. But that would not be in the Premier League,
for sure.'

And asked how he long he might play on, Terry said: 'I am 35 at Christmas — so a couple of years.'

BAYERN MUNICH have confirmed that Thomas Muller will not be joining
Following the signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger yesterday, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has come out all guns blazing.
And
has attempted to ally fears of a mass exodus at the Allianz, by
confirming that no more Bayern players will be going to Old Trafford.
He
told Sport 1: "We have never received an offer for Thomas Muller. I can
reassure all the fans we will not be selling another player to
Manchester United."
Although the Bayern CEO is determined not to
lose any more of the club’s stars, he admits that the time was right for
Schweinsteiger to move on.
GETTYThomas Muller will not be leaving Bayern Munich this summer He
added: "I regret it. We tried to convince him to stay with Bayern, but I
can also understand a player seeking to gain new experience at the end
of his career.
"It will be an interesting new challenge for
Bastian, giving him renewed power. It's a decision that will be
beneficial to him in his life. I'm convinced he'll play well there. The
Germany squad will profit from that too."
The German international made 342 appearances for Bayern in a career that spanned over a decade with the Bundesliga champions.
JOHN OBI MIKEL looks set to leave Chelsea for Fenerbahce, according to reports.
The midfielder has been at Stamford Bridge for nine years but has failed to establish himself as a key player for the club.
Mikel
is behind the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic and Ramires in Jose
Mourinho's plans next season, and his place in the team is under
further threat from youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The Nigerian is believed to be looking for a way out, and the Daily Star claims that Fenerbahce are ready to make a move.
The
Turkish club have already wrapped up a deal for Manchester United
winger Nani, and are hopeful of landing Robin van Persie by the weekend.
EDINSON CAVANI and Nicolas Otamendi are the next
targets as Manchester United look to continue another whirlwind summer
of transfer activity
After
splashing £150m last year, Louis Van Gaal took this year's spending to
nearly £80m with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin
yesterday following weekend arrival Matteo Darmian through the door.
But the signings spree isn't over with a striker and a centre-half still on United's hitlist.
With
Robin van Persie set to complete his £4.7m move to Fenerbahce and
Javier Hernandez also likely to leave, United have only Wayne Rooney,
their first summer signing Memphis Depay and youngster James Wilson as
recognised goalscorers.
Having being told that
Thomas Muller, Karim Benzema and Harry Kane are not for sale, Uruguay
international Cavani has emerged as the No1 target with United
encouraged by suggestions that he is unsettled with Paris St Germain.
PSG
will want Angel Di Maria in exchange but United are understood to be
reluctant to trade their record signing despite his debut-season
struggles and would prefer to make a straight cash offer of around £50m
for Cavani.
As for an experienced centre-half, Valencia's
£25m-rated Otamendi is the man under consideration following long-term
target Mats Hummels decision to stay with Borussia Dortmund.
One
position United do not look like having to strengthen is goalkeeper
with Real Madrid refusing to meet their £30m-plus valuation for David De
Gea and also unwilling to negotiate an exchange deal with Sergio Ramos.
De
Gea was included in the tour squad as United hurried through the deals
for Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger and Darmian so they could fly out to
the USA with their new team-mates yesterday.
With
Michael Carrick missing half of United's games last season through
injury and approaching his 34th birthday, Van Gaal needed to strengthen
his midfield engine room and says Schweinsteiger's experience and
winners' mentality will be a huge asset.
GETTYEdinson Cavani and Nicolas Otamendi are reportedly Louis van Gaal's next targets
Van
Gaal, who worked with the player during his spell as Bayern Munich boss
between 2009 and 2011, said: "Bastian is the ultimate professional and
there is no doubting his talent and his ability to control games. He
brings a wealth of experience and is an excellent addition to our squad.
"He
is, of course, no stranger to me. I worked with him during my time at
Bayern and I am truly delighted he is joining Manchester United. His
record speaks for itself; he has won every honour at club level and was a
major part of the successful Germany World Cup-winning team last
summer."
Schweinsteiger, 31 next month, said of
his surprise switch from Bayern: "I didn't take the decision to leave
lightly. Manchester United is the only club that I would have left
Munich for.
"I feel ready for this new and
exciting challenge in what I regard as the most competitive league in
the world and I am looking forward to working with Louis van Gaal
again."
Schneiderlin, 25, has had more of a
slow-burn career, joining Southampton as a teenager when they were in
League One in 2008 and then developing into one of the Premier League's
best holding midfielders and a France international with nine caps.
Van
Gaal said: "Morgan is a very talented player with great energy and
ability. His skills will complement the players that we already have and
I am very pleased that we have been able to complete this deal before
the tour to the United States.
"That training
camp will be very important in our preparations for the new season and
gives Morgan and the other players a chance to show our fans what they
can achieve together."
Arsenal also wanted Schneiderlin but he insists his eyes were set only on Old Trafford.
"Once
I learned that United were interested in signing me it was a very easy
decision to make," he said. "I have enjoyed seven very happy years with
Southampton and it's a club that will always be in my heart. But the
chance to be part of this squad to help this great club be successful
was too good to miss.
"I'm excited to be
starting that journey on our trip to the USA. I know what Manchester
United means to fans all over the world and I'm looking forward to
experiencing that."
De Gea's deputy Victor
Valdes, Rafael Da Silva, Reece James and Nick Powell were all left out
of Van Gaal's 26-man tour squad fuelling suggestions they could all be
heading for the exit door.
Arsene Wenger has dismissed rumours linking Mesut Ozil with a move to Juventus.
He
said: "The suggestions are created always by people who – I don’t know,
want to create news, but there is nothing concrete in that.
"He’s an important player for our team and he’s a player of course we count on to continue our development and our success."
The Gunners have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Chile international Eduardo Vargas.
The former QPR loanee has reportedly been offered terms by a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.
However, Napoli's sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli says a move to the United Arab Emirates or Spain is more likely.
He told El Mercurio:
"We deal with many offers for Eduardo Vargas. The UAE offer is very
good for the club, but we’re also handling an offer from Spain."
GETTYEduardo Vargas is expected to move to Spain or the UAE Arsenal also look set to miss out on Barcelona winger Pedro, according to reports.
The Daily Star claim The 27-year-old will make a £22million move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The report adds that the Spaniard is keen to link up with former Barca team-mate Cesc Fabregas at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal have officially missed out on long-term target Jackson Martinez, who has today signed for Atletico Madrid for £25million on a four-year deal.
A
club statement read: "Atletico Madrid and Porto have reached an
agreement for the transfer of Jackson MartÃnez. The Colombian striker
will sign for the next four seasons."
Everton boss Roberto Martinez insists James McCarthy, who is reportedly a target for the Gunners, will not leave Goodison Park this summer.
The
Spaniard said on the £23m rumours: "He’s not for sale. My
responsibility is to try to keep bringing competition into the squad."

restricted, we had to balance the books and we had to pay the stadium
back. This time has gone."
DAVID DE GEA is facing a humiliating return to
pre-season training with Manchester United next week - despite telling
them he wants to leave.
Real president Florentino Perez is reluctant to shell-out so much for someone who will be a free agent next summer.
Perez has also snubbed a £30m bid from United for Sergio Ramos and transfer talks between the two European giants are in danger of turning toxic.
The stand-off has left De Gea in limbo, despite the fact he has served notice on his luxurious rented home.
To
make matters worse De Gea could even find himself having to travel to
America for United's pre-season tour at a time when new Real boss Rafa
Benitez wanted him with his own squad for their trip to Australia.
Meanwhile, Everton have told United that Seamus Coleman is not for sale.
LIVERPOOL are on the verge of completing moves for three players as Brendan Rodgers continues his summer rebuilding job.
Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne,
Barcelona winger Bobby Adekanye and FC Copenhagen left-back Ludwig
Augustinsson could all move to Anfield in the coming days.
Clyne was on Merseyside today to undergo a medical ahead of his £12.5m switch from St. Mary's.
He
will replace departing free agent Glen Johnson and will become the
fourth Southampton player to move to Liverpool in the last 12 months
following the arrivals of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren
last summer.
The England international had one
year remaining on his current contract and had little intention of
signing an extension and is set to put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal
with Rodgers' side.

Barcelona whizz-kid Adekanye is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday before arriving on a free transfer.
The
16-year-old was one of the five transfers to the Catalan's youth system
which were deemed illegal by FIFA and he was banned from playing for
the club
He spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, who had
hoped to sign him permanently, but Liverpool appear to have won the race
for his signature.
Arsenal have signed Petr Cech from Chelsea in a deal worth about £10m.
The Czech Republic goalkeeper, who played more than 400
club games in 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge, has joined the Gunners on a
four-year contract.
Cech, 33, made only seven league appearances last season after losing his place to Belgian Thibaut Courtois.
In a letter to Chelsea fans,
Cech said he thought he would retire at Stamford Bridge, but added:
"Life doesn't always turn out the way you think it will."
He wrote: "Last summer, things changed and I understood
I was no longer the first-choice keeper, but I felt it was not the
right time for me to go.
"During the season, it became clear that my situation
would not improve and - as I know I am not at the stage of my career
where I want to be on the bench - I made my decision to move and look
for new challenges."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: "Petr Cech is a player
I have admired for a long time and I am very pleased he has decided to
join us."
Cech, brought to Stamford Bridge from French club
Rennes in July 2004, won 13 trophies with Chelsea - including one
Champions League and four Premier League titles.
He also set a club goalkeeping record of 228 clean
sheets in all competitions, beating the previous highest total of 208,
set by former England international Peter Bonetti between 1960 and 1979.
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey responded to Cech's arrival
by posting signing. One of the best Premier League keepers ever."
Gunners forward Theo Walcott tweeted that he scored his
first Arsenal goal against Cech
- in the 2007 League Cup final - to which his new team-mate replied: "Happy it won't happen again."
And Arsenal's current number one Wojciech Szczesny,
said: "Delighted to have a chance to learn from one of the best GK's in
the world."
Cech, Arsenal's first signing of the summer, could face
Chelsea as early as 2 August, when the two sides meet in the Community
Shield at Wembley.
Real Madrid fear they are losing control of the Sergio Ramos transfer
wrangle despite turning down a £35million bid from Manchester United for
the Spain defender. It is understood that Real president Florentino
Perez took the unusual step of calling Ramos personally to reassure him
that his contract dispute will be resolved after he returns from a
holiday in America and before Rafael Benitez's squad depart for a
pre-season tour of Australia and China on July 11.
Yaya Toure has revealed he plans to stay at Manchester City for a long
time despite being frequently linked with a move away from the Etihad
Stadium. Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is interested in sealing a
reunion with Toure, however the 32-year-old Ivory Coast international
appears to have ruled out the possibility of leaving Manuel Pellegrini's
side.
